Meet Mandee Silverman

Mandee Silverman is an associate in the Business Law Department of Goodwin Procter and a member of the Private Investment Funds practice. She joined the firm in 2006 and her practice focuses on services to private investors. Specifically, she works on establishing private funds through US and international offerings, organizing fund manager and sponsor entities, representing funds and investors in the preparation and negotiation of fund formation and investment documents and restructuring the terms of existing investment funds. She has experience in establishing a variety of domestic and international private investment vehicles, including private equity funds, mezzanine funds, hedge funds, real estate funds and infrastructure funds.

As a prior member of the firm’s Tax Practice, Ms. Silverman has also worked on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financings. Meet Stephen Fang

Steven S. Fang is an Associate in the Trademark, Copyright and Brand Management practice at Dorsey & Whitney. His practice focuses on counseling in the fields of technology, trademark and copyright law. As part of his technology practice, severs prepares and negotiates software, online content and web development agreements, and he develops terms of use and privacy policies for client websites.

He also engages in the clearance, prosecution and enforcement of US and international trademarks and copyrights, including the litigation of trademark and copyright claims, the assertion and defense of claims before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the recovery of client domain names. Steve is the author of ”Pros and Cons of Deploying Open Source Software” which was published in New York Law Journal. He also co-authored ”Is Your Trademark Embedded in Someone Else’s Website? Meet William J. Weiss

William J. Weiss (“Bill”) is a partner in the Tax practice at Goodwin Procter and advises US and foreign clients on the tax aspects of corporate and partnership transactions, including restructurings, equity-based compensation arrangements and the formation of joint ventures. In addition, he regularly advises sponsors, managers and investors on the tax aspects of the formation and operation of private equity, venture capital, real estate and hedge funds and the investments made by those funds.

Emanuel C. Grillo (“Manny”) is a partner at Goodwin Procter and serves as chair of its Financial Restructuring practice. He has broad-based experience representing secured and unsecured creditors and debtors as well as both sellers and purchasers in distressed mergers and acquisitions conducted under the auspices of the Bankruptcy Code.

He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Federal Bar Association (bankruptcy co-chair, New York chapter) and the Turnaround Management Association.  Manny is the author of “From First Dibs to the Last in Line” which appeared in the National Law Journal, and co-author of “Application of Bankruptcy Laws to Limited Liability Companies” which appeared in New York Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships. Meet Thomas C. Meriam

Thomas C. Meriam (“Tom”) is a partner in the Business Law practice at Goodwin Procter and a member of the Private Equity practice. He has broad experience representing clients in all aspects of the buyout market, including buyers, sellers, and lenders, both senior and subordinated, secured and unsecured. He also has extensive experience in off-balance sheet leasing, securitization of assets and tax exempt financing. Tom joined the firm in 2006 from Chadbourne & Park, where he was active in the private equity and mezzanine finance groups.
